Freezer Mates Set (4)

• Fast freezing: Their design allows cold air to circulate optimally around the container for faster freezing.
• No more stains! A unique colour-control technology prevents the inside of the container from being stained by strongly colouring ingredients such as tomato sauce or turmeric.
• Airtight and frost-free: The tight seal protects your food from air and prevents spills and odours from other foods seeping in, so your food stays as fresh as possible.
• Keep your freezer clean and organised: Igloo containers are modular, so you can organise your fridge however you like. And the coloured lids help you categorise your food!
• Soft, flexible material allows easy release, adapts to the expansion of food during freezing, and resists cracking and breaking down to -25°C.
• Save time: Prepare meals in advance to enjoy later in the week or on days when you don't have time to cook.
• Save money: Buying your meat and produce in bulk will save you money in the long run. Keep what you need for the week in the fridge and freeze the rest for later!
• Space-saving! The containers nest inside one another to save space in your cupboard when not in use.
• Sustainable - avoid disposable freezer bags.
• Versatile - the airtight lid makes them perfect for the fridge.

WHY FREEZE FOOD?

• Keep food fresh for longer. Freezing slows down the chemical and microbiological processes that cause food to spoil and lose its nutrients.
• Save money. Buying in bulk is cheaper than buying in small quantities. But storing those extra portions can leave your freezer cluttered and messy. Igloo containers are perfect for easily storing extra fish, fruit and vegetables.
• Save time during your busy working week by batch cooking. Cooking large quantities of stews and other meals at the weekend saves time during the week. If you don't like eating the same meal several days in a row, freeze and store your food for later.

HOW TO FREEZE FOOD?

• Only freeze clean, fresh food.
• When freezing cooked food, let it cool completely before placing it in the freezer.
• Fill containers up to the maximum fill line to leave room for expansion during the freezing process.
• For large quantities, divide the food into separate containers in advance. This will speed up freezing and, when it's time to eat, you'll have exactly the amount you want to use.
• Locate the coldest area/drawer of your freezer (see the appliance manual) and place specific foods in that area for faster freezing.
• The secret to excellent results with vegetables is to blanch them in boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes. After boiling, quickly cool the vegetables in ice-cold water before freezing them. This process stops the enzymes that can spoil vegetables and kills most of the micro-organisms that may be present.
• Always label food containers so you can easily identify what's in your freezer.

HOW TO THAW FOOD AFTER FREEZING?

• Thaw food in the fridge overnight or in the microwave at low power/wattage. Always transfer food to a microwave-safe container.
• Do not thaw at room temperature, as this can encourage the growth of harmful micro-organisms.
• Never refreeze thawed food.
• Once food has thawed, be sure to eat it within the recommended time.

Tips:

• Let your dishes cool before placing them in the Igloo container, to avoid any deformation of the material.
• Food expands as it freezes. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
• Only fill your containers two-thirds full, as food expands as it freezes.
• For faster freezing, freeze your food in the Igloo container without the lid. After freezing, close it with the lid.
• To freeze fillets/rolls of meat, fish, etc. without them sticking together, first freeze them separately on the lid or in a small Igloo container (170 ml), then place them in a larger Igloo container.
• To freeze portions of home-made dishes, freeze them in the Igloo container 170 ml, then place them, frozen, in a larger Igloo container.
• When taking it out of the freezer, leave it for a few moments at room temperature before removing the lid.
• Run the container under hot water to make releasing the contents easier.
• To release the contents, place your thumbs in the middle of the container and press.
